Our Pastor

Pastor Bill CarrollHi. My name is Bill Carroll and I have been the pastor for the Still Pond-Betterton United Methodist Charge since 2014. My wife, Kathy, and I have been blessed to be involved with the ministries of these two churches, and we're grateful that God has placed us in these two wonderful communities of Kent County, Maryland.

Like many folks, I was raised in the Methodist church, but when I attended college, doing the church thing was left to holidays, weddings and funerals. I had become disconnected with God, thinking I could handle life on my own terms. Through the years, I found myself struggling with the difficulties of life, mainly because I was trying to live it without Christ.

In April of 2006, I surrendered to the Lord. Because I wasn't doing my life very well, I asked Jesus to take over. But I had no idea that He would call me into ministry. As a matter of fact, had anyone told me that I would someday be a Methodist minister, I would have told them, "You're nuts!" And, yet, here I am…serving a God who makes the weak, strong and the frightened, fearless.

I am what they call a bi-vocational pastor, in that I continue to work during the week as a land surveyor. Where surveying is my career, ministry is my calling, and I've been blessed in both vocations. The Lord uses life's ups and downs to build the Message delivered on Sunday morning. I encourage you to join Kathy & me each week as we worship our God who saves us through His Son, Jesus, and who guides us through life's journey by the Holy Spirit.

"Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." (Hebrews 3:13)
